SHACMAN LNG trucks conquer andes, boosting south american logistics

On February 14, 2025, SHACMAN X5000 Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) heavy-duty trucks successfully completed a cross-border transportation test across the Andes Mountains. Conquering this transportation challenge—known for complex terrain and huge altitude differences—with outstanding performance, the trucks have injected new momentum into logistics upgrading in South America.

Led by a renowned local logistics company, the test was closely followed by its director Juan, who spoke highly of the vehicles' performance. "The most remarkable gain is the significant cost reduction—each X5000 consumes only about 50kg of LNG per 100km. Based on the current gas price of $0.8 per kg, it saves $22 per 100km compared to the diesel trucks we previously operated!" Juan exclaimed. He added that fuel theft had long plagued the fleet, but the low-temperature storage feature of LNG has greatly increased the difficulty and cost of theft, fundamentally solving this industry pain point.

The company has deployed over 120 X5000 LNG tractors. SHACMAN is now a key driver of South America's LNG commercial vehicle sector, empowering green and efficient logistics transformation.
